This privacy policy describes how soulgen.co.uk handles your data. We are an independent information blog about SoulGen and not an official part of SoulGen. Last updated: 11 May 2026.
Who we are
soulgen.co.uk is an independent information site about SoulGen. We are not affiliated with SoulGen and publish reviews, guides and news for our local audience. The site is operated by Schwa Productions.
What data we collect
We collect as little personal data as possible:
- Server logs (always): for each page request we store an anonymized hash of your IP, your user-agent, and the referring URL. The hash is rotated daily with a secret salt, so we can distinguish visitors within a single day without identifying them across days.
- Google Analytics (only with consent): if you click "Accept" in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to analyse visitor behaviour. Google's IP-anonymisation is enabled. If you decline, no Analytics pixels fire.
- Contact form: when you use the contact form we keep your name, email and message for as long as necessary to respond - usually no longer than 12 months.
- Article comments: we keep your name, email (never publicly shown), optional website, the comment text itself, your IP and user-agent for moderation and spam control. Approved comments are public; rejected comments are deleted within 90 days.
Cookies
We set cookies in two categories:
- Functional (always): one cookie (
bbc_cc) remembers your choice in the cookie banner so we don't keep showing it. - Analytics (only with consent): Google Analytics cookies (
_ga,_ga_*) are only set after explicit consent. To revoke consent delete thebbc_cccookie in your browser; the banner will ask again on your next visit.
Third parties
For a handful of technical services we rely on external providers:
- Cloudflare: provides our CDN and SSL plus bot protection (Turnstile on the contact and comment forms). Cloudflare processes connection data; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Google Analytics: only with consent. See Google's privacy policy.
- Google Search Console: receives no personal data about visitors; we only use it for aggregate search performance.
We do not sell data. We do not share data with third parties for advertising.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and register at SoulGen we may earn a commission. This does not change the price for you and does not influence the content of our reviews.
Retention
- Server logs: maximum 30 days, then aggregated without the IP component.
- Google Analytics: 14 months (Google's default).
- Contact form messages: maximum 12 months after the last reply.
- Comments: as long as the related article is published.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and object to the processing of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the contact form. We respond within 30 days.
If you have a complaint about how we handle your data you can also contact your local data protection authority.
Changes
We may update this policy when laws or practices change. The date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage.
